When Shinpachi returns to Edo after a year away, he discovers his entire world transformed: Gintoki and Kagura have become different people, and impossibly, his sister has married the Shinsengumi chief and is expecting a child. Finding that Vice Chief Hijikata remains unchanged, Shinpachi joins the Shinsengumi to restore Edo to normal. Filled with crude humor, wild parodies, and absurd references, Gintama' follows the ragtag crew through escalating chaos in their alien-infested city.
