Medabots are intelligent combat robots powered by special medals, competing in the popular sport of Robbatling where trainers called Medafighters battle for supremacy and a shot at the World Tournament. When elementary student Ikki Tenryou discovers his first Medabot, the outdated Metabee, and equips it with a medal found nearby, the robot awakens with a rebellious streak and refuses to obey. Despite their rocky start, Ikki and his hot-headed partner must overcome their differences to rise through the ranks and achieve tournament glory.
